Guest interview done by my first mentor/dear friend Bud Jeffries.

Bud is one of my closest friends and my first mentor. He gave me my start and introduction to performing Strongman culture/training. I had the honor of being interviewed by him in my home.

Bud is super strong and a very classy and humble man. To learn more about Bud (in case you live on another planet and don’t know of him) be sure to go to www.strongerman.com

He is a class act.

After 25 years of training, still a work in progress.

After 25 years of training, hard work, success and failure I'm still striving each day to reach my goals with my body. At 38 years old I'm closing in to the best shape of my life. Through discipline and a desire to be the best at what I do I wake every morning ready to tackle the day and stomp negativity beneath my feet. I will succeed. Don't let anyone tell you that you can't make it, no matter what it is that you want in life. Coach Machine

Human Rack Lift and a Neck support with 405lbs.

This is one of my other signature feats of strength I perform in my strength shows.

Starting at the first of the year I will be performing this feat again regularly.

At the end of the video is a very short clip of a neck support with a barbell loaded to 405lbs. Though the person filming did not zoom out so the full weight can be seen (he was scared for my life) I assure you the weight is 4 45lbs plates on each side of the bar.

THIS SHOULD NOT BE ATTEMPTED WITHOUT PROPER TRAINING. THIS FEAT IS VERY DANGEROUS.

The bar is placed on my throat and I held it for as long as I could.
Which was not that long LOL.

Go by how you feel.

I’m used to training to a set schedule, meaning that I have my weekly workouts all laid out ahead of time.

However, latley I have been straying form my planned approach to training by how I feel.

This has been great for me.

I have had many personal bests by going in to my gym and training by how I feel instead of training what I had scheduled.

An example of this would be:

Monday: I usually deadlift, but what happens if your body has a different plan? Maybe you don’t feel as strong that day, maybe you mentally want to do something else. If so then go for ti.

I may walk in the gym and plan on doing a certain bodypart but then after I warm up I decide to do a full body day (like today)

I find this way of working out to be fun to me, training is fun to me anyways but this way of training has reignited the flame in this old, seasoned body.

Give it a try and see how it works for you.

You might just have a better training session than you had planned.

Today is sunday, I usually never train on sunday but I felt like training so I did and it was awesome.

Sunday workout:

  • Squat 2×8
  • BB bench press 2×8
  • BB shrug 2×8
  • Chin ups 4×5 with weight
  • Side Laterals high volume 4 different styles
  • Dips on the dip bars 1×20 with weight, then 1×8 with weight
  • Band curls high volume 50 reps.
  • Weighted ab work on the floor.

This workout took me 45:00 and I felt awesome.

Also bent a nasty piece of steel. Will continue to bend this piece 1x everyday until it becomes very easy and I can bend it multiple times per day.
